Since 1985: Received a B.S. Ed. in Special Education from Ohio University. Received an M.S. in Deaf Education from Western Maryland College. Married, had two beautiful girls, then separeated. Taught a variety of special education classes in public schools, provided home daycare, taught at a community college, worked as an educational coordinator in special needs foster care, and worked as a hearing impairment specialist in rural VA school districts. I currently teach multiply disabled hearing impaired students, including those who are deaf/blind. I also homeschool my two daughters.
What I remember from High School: I recall many supportive staff who went out of their way to help me. Ms. Ayers was particularly helpful in arranging my internship after school at a program for hearing impaired students. I believe this experience was instrumental in confirming my eventual career choice. She also provided tremendous assistance with plans for the Springbrook Service Association and our many projects. I was also blessed with the friendship of Mrs. Taubman, and fondly remember her love and respect for all students and how motivated we were by her outrageous stories. She is the kind of teacher I have always strived to be.
